Florence Panorama - smallBirthplace of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, not to mention the dynamic centre of the Italian Renaissance, Florence makes for a fascinating educational destination in its own right. Yet why not go beyond the city and explore the musical heritage of the region, visiting Pavarotti’s home town of Modena to the north or, to the west, Lucca, birthplace of Puccini?

New York

Easily accessible from Calais or via Eurostar with plenty to see and do both in the city, students get the opportunity not only to practise their French but also to visit one of the finest operatic institutions in France.

There’s plenty on offer from a Music perspective, too, be it a visit to Abbey Road Recording Studios, a cross-arts workshop at the Barbican or a Bright Sparks concert performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.


Philharmonie de Paris (c) william beaucardet, Philharmonie de Paris - smallParis effortlessly combines grand buildings, glorious monuments and a never-ending selection of galleries and museums. A Music school trip to the French capital should invariably include a visit to the Palais Garnier, Opéra Bastille or the Philharmonie de Paris, home to the Cité de la Musique and its collection of over 7,000 instruments and art objects.

Rhine & Moselle

The Rhine region has long attracted visitors from all walks of life who have marvelled at its beauty, from Byron, Turner and Mark Twain to Queen Victoria. Set on the Rhine is the former capital of West Germany, Bonn, also the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven, with monuments and memorial buildings devoted to the famous German composer dotted around the city.
