I couldn’t have been more impressed with the pre-travel service. Andy was organised, always available and got back to me very quickly with any questions I had. Fantastic, extremely good value for money. Will recommend to other teachers. CB, Seven Kings High School

From stylish European cities to historic towns, Europe’s Christmas Markets are highly popular destinations for school tours, as they offer the opportunity to experience both contemporary culture and centuries-old tradition. Delicious aromas of cinnamon biscuits, grilled sausages and mulled wine add to the atmosphere while students have the perfect opportunity to practice language skills, browse the stalls and buy hand-crafted gifts as unique Christmas presents. Why not indulge in a spot of ice-skating or a ride on the big wheel?

Our standard Christmas Market school trip itineraries are based on the Christmas Markets in Lille and Cologne, but we can also organise trips to other popular Christmas Markets destinations such as Aachen, Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, Frankfurt, Koblenz, Krakow, Munich, Prague and Vienna.

What’s more, we can easily combine them with other visits to suit your area of study to make the trip even more memorable and worthwhile.

Typical Accommodation

We use centrally-located hotels and hostels in all destinations, which are all school group friendly. All rooms will have full private facilities.

Examples include the Jugendherberge Köln-Deutz in Cologne, the A&O Hauptbahnhof in Berlin and a number of different options in Lille, Brussels, Budapest& Krakow.

Please click on the relevant destination pages below for more details about the hotels used.

All tours will be tailor made to suit each individual group, but here are a couple of suggestions for a Christmas Market school trip:

Sample Itinerary – 2 Days by Coach to Lille’s Christmas Markets

Day 1 – An early departure from school to Dover for the short-sea crossing to Calais. On arrival in France, continue the journey to Lille (approx journey time of 1.5 hours) to visit the Christmas Market. Transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 2 – After breakfast, there will be time for further exploration of Lille, perhaps visiting the Palais des Beaux Arts or the Charles de Gaulle Birthplace & Museum, before rejoining the coach for the journey home. A packed lunch will be provided.

Sample Itinerary – 3 Days by Coach to Cologne’s Christmas Markets

Day 1 – An early morning departure from school to Dover for the crossing to Calais. Once on the continent, journey on to Germany (approx. journey time of 6 hours), arriving at your hotel late afternoon / early evening.

Day 2 – A full day spent in Cologne visiting the Christmas Markets and the magnificent cathedral, Germany’s most visited monument.

Day 3 – After breakfast, commence your journey back to Calais, across the Channel, then home.

A popular extension to this tour is to visit Phantasialand on Day 3. Flights to Cologne are also available. Contact us for details.
